India is Getting ready to BATTLE China in Sikkim Issue with its Army . Chinese army carrying army exercises in Tibet . Chinese army carrying army exercises near Indian Border . India is ready for war with China . War tension on India - China border - TV9 . NEW DELHI Notwithstanding rise in China's power and military strength, Nathu La is physiologically a weak spot for the People's Liberation Army, akin to the Sino-Vietnam border, having lost to the Indian and Vietnamese counterparts in 1967 and 1979, respectively. The Indian military, overcoming the loss in 1962, had dealt a severe blow to PLA in 1967 in Nathu La sector that resulted in the death of 400 Chinese soldiers, a fact neither debated in Beijing nor Delhi. The Vietnamese Army had dealt a similar blow to PLA in 1979 along the Sino-Vietnam border merely four years after unification of Vietnam. The Nathu La and Cho La clashes, (September 11-14, 1967 for Nathu La; October 1, 1967 for Cho La) were a series of clashes between India and China along the Sikkim border. According to an Sino-Indian expert, the conflict ended with the defeat of China. Indian troops drove back the attacking forces. Many PLA fortifications at Nathu La were destroyed. Starting from August 13, 1967, Chinese troops started digging trenches in Nathu La across the Indian border. After Indian troops observed that some trenches were inside Sikkim, it asked the local Chinese commander to withdraw from the then Indian protectorate state. On October 1, 1967, another clash between India and China took place at Cho La, a few km north of Nathu La. According to the Indian government version with which neutral experts concur, the clash was initiated by the Chinese troops after a scuffle between the two, when the Chinese troops infiltrated into Sikkim, claimed the pass and questioned the position of Indian troops. According to the defence ministry, 88 Indian Army personnel were killed and 163 wounded while China lost 340 soldiers and 450 were wounded during the two incidents. China, however, claimed a lower number of casualties. According to s cholar John Garver, Professor Emeritus in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at the Georgia Institute of Technology after the Nathu La incident, Indian concerns were roused about China's intentions regarding Sikkim. Garver also said that India was "quite pleased with the combat performance of its forces in the Nathu La clashes, seeing it as signaling dramatic improvement since 1962 war". According to another scholar, Taylor Fravel, these incidents demonstrated the effects of China's "insecurity" on the use of force. In BEIJING Amid the Sikkim standoff, the Chinese Army is carrying out exercises simulating real battle scenarios at high-altitude areas in Tibet, testing new equipment, including a light battle tank. The exercises were being carried at an altitude of 5,100 metres, the Chinese language service of the state-run Xinhua news agency reported from the Tibetan capital Lhasa. Besides testing the new equipment, the exercises involve conducting live firing exercises. The exercises also involve combat operations command, combat synergies, live fire shooting training, and comprehensive inspection of arms integration, the report said. The simulation also involves offensive and defensive training. Last week, Chinese Defence spokesman Colonel Wu Qin told the media here that the trials of the tank, reportedly weighing about 35 tonnes, were taking place during military exercises. China Accuses India Of 'Betrayal' On Sikkim Border . Xinhua has also released photos of the exercises on its website. The exercises were being held in the backdrop of heightened India-China tensions at Dokalam area in the Sikkim sector. China and India have been engaged in a standoff in the Dokalam area near the Bhutan tri-junction for the past three weeks after a construction party of the Chinese Army attempted to build a road. Doka La is the Indian name for the region which Bhutan recognises as Dokalam, while China claims it as part of its Donglang region. Thanks for watching. Subscribe to our channel. Thanks for watching. The insight of Xinhua: China, Vietnam to forge closer economic ties, more efficient [Newday.com] Source: Xinhua| 2017-11-13 20:47:18|Editor: Liangyu Video PlayerClose NANNING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Every day, merchant Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang travels from her home in the Vietnamese town of Mong Cai, across the border to Dongxing, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to work at her rosewood furniture store. She opened the store two years ago. Previously, she purchased lamps from China and sold them in Vietnam. "Transportation is convenient; trade is vibrant. We benefit directly from interconnectivity. On Chinese holidays, our business is extremely busy," Trang said in her shop in Dongxing, a county-level city in Guangxi. The two countries are set to strive for closer and more fruitful ties as their leaders agreed to continuously boost the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to bring more benefits to the two peoples, at a meeting in Hanoi Sunday. Both sides also pledged to implement cooperation documents related to the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and Vietnam's "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle" plan, to promote regional economic links and connectivity, and push forward the construction of cross-border economic cooperation zones. Improved infrastructure is already delivering benefits. The new Beilun River bridge, which connects Dongxing and Mong Cai, was completed in September after a three-year construction period. Three kilometers down from the previous bridge, it was built to meet the growing demand of bilateral trade and personnel exchange. Like Trang, thousands of people do business at the border area in Dongxing. The number of people who passed through the Dongxing border crossing reached a record high of 8 million from January to early November, up 40 percent year on year, largely boosted by tourism and business. "In the second half of this year, seafood and nuts imported from Vietnam are selling well. We are busy every day," said Tan Xiangwu, a Dongxing resident who began cross-border trade three years ago, and has since encouraged his family to join the business. Also in September, a new freight route connected China's Friendship Pass in Pingxiang, also in Guangxi, which is China's major land port for fruit trade, with Vietnam's Huu Nghi border crossing. Some 45,000 trucks have crossed the border via the new route, up 32 percent year on year. The Pingxiang Integrated Free Trade Zone, which began operation in 2011, has attracted 189 Chinese companies and three Vietnamese firms. In the first nine months of this year, the zone's foreign trade grew 23 percent year on year to reach 13.6 billion U.S. dollars. Bilateral trade has seen stable growth in the past few years, reaching almost 100 billion dollars last year. China has been Vietnam's biggest trading partner for 13 years, while Vietnam is China's largest trading partner among members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Last month, a trade zone opened in Jingxi, Guangxi, offering more convenient customs services for border residents. Phung Thi Hue with the Institute of Chinese Studies of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences said Southeast Asian countries have greatly benefited from their participation in the Belt and Road Initiative. Vietnam-China cooperation is increasingly closer thanks to the implementation of the initiative, said the Vietnamese researcher at the 10th China-ASEAN Think Tank Strategic Dialogue Forum held in Nanning, capital of Guangxi, last week.

China's Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) went through a road test in north China's Hebei Province on Tuesday. The passenger compartment rises far above other vehicles on the road, allowing cars to pass underneath. The test-run tried to simulate real traffic conditions with one bus compartment traveling at a speed of 10 km per hour on a section of a 300-meter-long test track.

Rescue teams are scrambling to reach the site of a strong and shallow earthquake in northwest China that has killed at least 54 people, according to state media. Another 337 people were injured in the quake which tore through Gansu Province, the China Daily newspaper reported. The quake hit along the border of two counties -- Min and Zhang -- at around 7:45 a.m. local time, according to state news agency Xinhua. Emergency services are converging on the area, including the Red Cross Society of China, which is sending 200 tents and other supplies to shelter and sustain those left without homes. According to state broadcaster CCTV, Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged crews to prioritize the rescue of survivors and minimize casualties. The original quake and powerful aftershocks caused roofs to collapse, cut telecommunications lines and damaged a major highway linking the provincial capital of Lanzhou to the south, according to China Daily.

NHK World Article: http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/31_02.html An official of China's Railways Ministry says faulty software at a rail network operation center led to the fatal high-speed train crash in Wenzhou in Zhejiang Province on July 23rd. The state-run Xinhua news agency aired an interview with the anonymous ministry official on Saturday. The official said a signaling system near Wenzhou South Station broke down due to a lightning strike, forcing a train to stop. The official said the train was rear-ended by another after starting to move slowly. The official said a serious flaw in the design of software used to collect data at a railway operation center caused a signaling system to display green, instead of red. This caused an automatic train control system not to work, allowing the second train to continue running and ram into the first one. The official also confirmed that the second train should have run ahead of the first, but disruptions in train services changed the order. The official said rail workers failed to deal with the situation properly. At least 40 people died in the crash. Local residents visited the accident site on Saturday, laying flowers and praying for the souls of the dead. The Chinese government has nearly doubled the amount of compensation to families of the victims from the sum it initially proposed. It is asking the families to give an answer on whether to accept the compensation by Sunday. However, the government's apparent efforts to bring an early resolution to the accident are stirring public anger. Meanwhile, it has been revealed that on Friday night, the governing Communist Party re-issued a ban on independent reporting on the accident by domestic media. This apparently shows that the government is desperate to stem discontent among the bereaved families and calm public criticism.
